David Mouillot

leader, Role of biodiversity and different forms of heterogeneity to sustain ecosystem services
David is a full Professor in theoretical ecology studying the link between the structure of communities and ecosystem functioning and their associated services.
He leads a research group aiming to increase the interdisciplinarity in the study of complex marine systems under global changes.
He is recognized as Highly Cited Researcher in the field of Ecology/Environment, ISI Web of Knowledge, since 2017.

Sébastien Villéger

Contributor, Role of biodiversity

Sebastien is a Researcher at CNRS, MARBEC lab, and the University of Montpellier. His research focusses on functional ecology.

Within the project he will help with gathering existing biodiversity data from the selected case studies. Then he will compute complementary diversity indices assessing the range of taxa, functional attributes and phylogenetic lineages of organisms. Eventually, he will also analyse how these facets of biodiversity determine the amount of ecosystem services provided to human populations.

Nicolas Loiseau

Co investigator,
Nicolas is a community ecologist interested in the biodiversity of marine communities. His long-term research goal is to bring together innovative field-survey tools and computing methods in order to uncover the extent of marine diversity.
His approach is eclectic, ranging from global biogeography to functional ecology.
He will mostly contribute to Marine coastal ecosystems biodiversity, functions and services in a changing environment

Raphael Seguin

Assistant Engineer, Marine coastal ecosystems biodiversity, functions and services in a changing environment

Raphael is Assistant Engineer at the University of Montpellier. His research interests include coral reef conservation and functional ecology, socio-ecological systems and science communication.

Within the project, he is organizing and participating in field missions, especially eDNA sampling, and participating in data analysis.

His hope is for MaCoBioS to have concrete repercussions on European policy.
